Thunderstorm warning issued, rain likely in five districts

Temperatures remained normal and below normal in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Monday. Some parts of the State may witness cooler temperatures with rain likely in five districts today.

The State Meteorological Centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Nainital and Champawat districts on Tuesday. In addition to this, very light to light rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Nainital and Champawat districts while dry weather is likely to prevail in the State’s remaining districts.The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Monday were 32.4 degrees Celsius and 17.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.6 degrees Celsius and 17.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.6 degrees Celsius and 9.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.7 degrees Celsius and 12.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature was normal while the minimum was a degree above normal in Dehradun. The maximum was a degree below normal and the minimum was two degrees above normal in Pantnagar while the maximum was two degrees below normal and the minimum was normal in Mukteshwar. Similarly, the maximum was three degrees below normal and the minimum was normal in New Tehri. Though no significant rainfall activity was reported, various parts of the State continued to experience some relief from the heat experienced a week ago.
