MCD to start ICCC for waste management from August 1

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC) developed by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) for solid waste management will become fully operational from August 1. The centre, completed in record time, aims to streamline various aspects of urban sanitation through technology integration, the Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal said.

She inspected the ICCC on Sunday and reviewed the final phase of its development. She assessed the progress made so far and observed the systems that will soon be in operation. Bansal said that the ICCC will oversee door-to-door waste collection, GPS tracking of garbage vehicles, route monitoring, attendance of sanitation workers and real-time monitoring of collection and processing data.

The centre will help consolidate these functions under a unified system. She stated that the new system will increase transparency and accountability in waste management processes. It is also expected to improve grievance redressal by enabling faster response to citizen complaints, she said. Bansal said that the ICCC will play a significant role in making Dehradun cleaner and more efficient in waste management.
