The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has started speeding up the work on the Master Plan 2041 for the planned development of the city. A high-level meeting was chaired by Housing and Urban Development secretary R Rajesh Kumar on the weekend in which officials discussed ways to finalise the plan soon.

Officials said that this time the master plan will focus on public participation. Camps will be organised in every ward of the municipal corporation to take suggestions and objections from citizens. This will help in making the plan more practical and transparent. The aim is to develop Dehradun into a modern and well planned city. Special attention has been given to traffic and infrastructure in the plan. New roads, bypasses, better public transport and parking facilities are being proposed to reduce traffic problems in the city.

The plan also focuses on protecting the environment. Steps like preservation of rivers, increasing green areas and plantation drives will also be taken. Officials said that maintaining a balance between development and nature is very important. A new committee has also been formed to quickly solve objections related to the master plan. The committee will work in a transparent and time bound manner.

Officials in the meeting also discussed a separate plan for Mussoorie. Officials said that Mussoorie will be developed as a model hill station with a balance between tourism and environmental protection. It was further stated that different departments will work together to implement the plan smoothly. The master plan 2041 will help in the overall development of the city and create new opportunities in the future, officials said.
