Minister Kaira visits villages, speaks to hail-affected farmers

The State cabinet minister, Ram Singh Kaira visited a number of villages, including Dhari, Sunderkhal, and Dakbagla, under the Bhimtal Assembly constituency and listened to the problems of the villagers affected by the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorm spells.
During the visit, the damage caused to the crops and fruits by the hailstorm was assessed too.
After talking to the district magistrate, Nainital, Lalit Mohan Rayal, he said that due to hailstorm and rain that lashed several villages, including Okhalkanda, Dhari, Ramgarh and Bhimtal under the Bhimtal Assembly constituency, a large chunk of Peaches, Plums, Apricots, Peas, Chillies, Tomatoes and Potatoes was damaged, leaving the farmers deeply worried. “They have suffered huge losses due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm,” the minister said.
He asked the DM to send teams from the Horticulture and Agriculture departments to every village in the affected region to assess the damage caused to the crops and fruits and provide appropriate compensation at the earliest.
