Uttarakhand has made history by launching the first dedicated women’s sports college in Lohaghat, Champawat district. With the announcement of results for the first session, 30 girls from across the country and the State have been selected for the first batch.

Sports minister Rekha Arya, describing this initiative as a milestone in women’s empowerment, stated that this is not just a small step, but a significant leap toward a bright future for half of our population in the world of sports.

Arya further emphasised that this is the first dedicated women’s sports college in India, focused solely on enhancing the sporting skills of girls at an international level. Talented girls with an interest in sports from rural and remote areas of Uttarakhand will no longer have to compromise their circumstances or talent, as they will now receive world-class training and quality education all under one roof.

She expressed full confidence that the girls graduating from this college will bring honour to the country and the State by raising the tricolor at the Olympics, Asian Games and other international forums. The hard work and dedication of these 30 girls in the first batch will serve as an inspiration for generations to come.
