BJP criticises opposition for sleeping in Gairsain Assembly for personal gains

The Bharatiya Janata Party said that instead of remaining alert and raising concerns on public issues, the opposition chose to sleep inside the Assembly in Gairsain on Tuesday. The party accused the Congress of pursuing self interest and not addressing matters concerning people.
The State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt said that opposition leaders created uproar over cases filed against them rather than discussing disaster-related issues. He stated that the session cannot run only for protests, sleeping and politics. He condemned the vandalism and disruption caused by opposition MLAs in the Assembly.
Bhatt said that while the State is facing disasters in Dharali, Pauri and other areas, the government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is engaged in relief and rescue operations. He alleged that Congress leaders spread misinformation about rescue work and relief funds. He said that the government had already convened the monsoon session in Gairsain and it would have been appropriate to express condolences for those who lost lives and discuss comprehensive measures for disaster relief. Instead, opposition legislators acted irresponsibly and violated the dignity of the Assembly for personal and political gains, Bhatt said.
He further added that opposition leaders did not raise issues of development, disaster or their constituencies but focused only on legal action taken against their senior leaders. He stated that their attempt to block proceedings was meant to prevent discussion on strengthening the anti-conversion law, taking action against illegal madrasas and disaster relief measures.
He expressed satisfaction that despite opposition protests, the Assembly passed the supplementary budget and other bills. Bhatt said that suspending the session indefinitely was the only option left. He also accused Congress MLAs of misusing their role for personal benefit and said their actions reflected a distorted form of opposition politics.
