The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has identified more than 40 meat vendors working without a valid license in the Jwalapur area.
The corporation officials found these vendors while conducting a detailed survey in the area to ensure public health and hygiene standards. Officials said that more than 40 vendors were found to be selling meat without a license from the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) department.
According to sources, the MCH had completed the survey of these establishments during the past month. The action was taken under chief sanitation inspectors Vikas Chachar, Vikas Chowdhary and sanitation inspector Surendra Kumar.
On receiving the survey report, the MCH sent an official letter to the FDA along with the list of more than 40 meat shops. The corporation has requested that legal action should be taken against these shops as per the rules and if needed, they should be sealed.
The MCH administration has stressed that there will be no compromise with hygiene, public health and food safety. Similar inspection campaigns will also be carried out in the future, municipal officials added.
