To further strengthen healthcare services, a state-of-the-art Dynamic Digital Radiography (DDR) machine has been installed at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital, providing patients with more accurate and faster diagnostics.  While asserting that GDMC Hospital is the first facility in the State to have this machine installed,  the officials at the premier facility of the city said that the hospital authority led by the principal, Dr Geeta Jain had been persistently pursing this initiative.  “GDMC Hospital is continuously adopting modern medical technologies and achieving new milestones in the State’s healthcare sector,” said one of them.

The new DDR machine is more advanced than traditional X-rays and is capable of dynamic imaging of body parts. This advancement will allow for more accurate diagnoses of diseases related to the lungs, heart and musculoskeletal system, the hospital sources said and added that the installation of this machine will not only enhance diagnostic capabilities for patients but also provide medical students and paramedical staff an opportunity to learn new technologies.

Dwelling further about this initiative, the medical superintendent of GDMC Hospital, Dr RS Bisht said that the dynamic digital radiography machine will benefit patients in numerous ways.  “The term dynamic digital radiography indicates that X-rays can be done while the patient is in motion, such as during breathing. This means patients won’t need to undergo repeated X-rays. Along with this, the X-ray done through this machine will have clearer images,” he said.

Bisht further said that the machine has not yet been operationalised.  “Some related work is still ongoing. It is expected to become operational in a week,” he added.
