The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the victory of candidates supported by the party in the Panchayat elections is a sign of the public’s approval of the State government’s vision for development. The party said that the Panchayat election results are a clear indication of a ‘triple-engine’ government in the rural areas of the State. The manner in which the BJP candidates and its supported candidates won has elicited enthusiasm in the public while at the same time the Congress has been reminded of the ground reality.
Talking to the media, BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the election of the party supported candidates to posts of district Panchayat members, block Panchayat and Gram Pradhan has resulted in enthusiasm among the public. This is the public’s stamp of approval on chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision for development. Other independent and opposition candidates also received votes for development, which makes the development of rural areas a collective responsibility, he said.
“BJP workers were elected to the majority of posts of Gram Pradhan and ward members in the State. The people have elected a considerable number of BJP candidates to posts of block Panchayat members. A board of the BJP is clearly imminent in most of the 89 blocks in the State. When it comes to the posts of district Panchayat members, the candidates supported by the party have registered wins according to the target. Considering the results and trends being received, our claim of the lotus blooming on posts of district Panchayat heads in all 12 districts is going to be fulfilled,” Chauhan said.
Referring to allegations levelled by the Congress, he said that these are a result of despair and frustration. The BJP selected its candidates unanimously and on seats where there were many aspirants, the party fielded supported candidates. All the party workers supported each other instead of competing against each other, he averred.
