Plains to get hotter again after rainy spell

After the brief respite from heat provided by the rainy spell, Dehradun and other regions in the plains are expected to witness a rise in temperature again. However, the mountainous regions will continue to enjoy cooler temperatures. According to the State Meteorological Centre, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts on Sunday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to the centre on Saturday, the maximum temperatures remained normal in the plains and appreciably below normal in the mountainous regions during the past 24 hours. The maximum temperature is likely to rise by 1-3 degrees Celsius during the next 2-3 days in the State after which there will be no significant change in the maximum temperature.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature in Dehradun was normal at 35.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum was two notches below normal at 20.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 37.8 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Pantnagar, 19.7 degrees Celsius and 13.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.3 degrees Celsius and 11.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
