The single entry and exit gate at Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital has become a persistent issue, leading to traffic congestion within the hospital premises. It has been observed that vehicles often come face-to-face at the gate, resulting in delays, particularly during emergencies. Many visitors have reported facing problems repeatedly due to this bottleneck, urging the authorities to take corrective action. Acknowledging these concerns, the hospital administration has approached the relevant authorities to resolve the single entry and exit point in order to alleviate traffic congestion.
This is not the first time this issue has been raised. The Pioneer has earlier highlighted visitors’ concerns regarding the delays and congestion caused by the single entry and exit gate. A visitor, Veena Kumari, stated that she frequently visits the hospital and always experiences traffic congestion within the premises due to the single entry and exit gate. Being a district hospital in the provisional State capital, the traffic conditions within the hospital premises are a serious concern, especially during emergencies, as they could potentially lead to adverse outcomes. She urged the authorities to take immediate action to address this issue.
Another visitor, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the single entry and exit gate at the hospital causes vehicles travelling in opposite directions to collide, resulting in significant congestion and delays for many patients seeking treatment. He emphasised the urgency of addressing this situation and recommended establishing separate entry and exit gates to avoid serious consequences in the future.
Many other visitors have expressed similar concerns, emphasising that the authorities need to take immediate action regarding the entry and exit gate problem.
In response, principal medical superintendent at the district hospital, Dr Yatendra Singh informed that a letter regarding this issue had previously been submitted to the Director General of Health. However, due to some deficiencies, action regarding the single entry and exit point was not taken. Now, the hospital administration has contacted the Peyjal Nigam and the Irrigation department, who will soon visit the hospital for an inspection to address the single entry and exit issue. Additionally, they will inspect the separate administrative block and parking area, as the administrative block is currently located within the outpatient department (OPD) building. After completing these inspections, a joint report will be submitted to the DG’s office. Thereafter, recommendations for addressing the single entry and exit gate concern will also be made, he said.
