Rahul Gandhi meeting ‘Mohammed Deepak’ Congress’ attempt at appeasement in U’khand: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi meeting Kotdwar-based gymnasium owner Deepak Kumar alias ‘Mohammed Deepak’ is an attempt at appeasement in Uttarakhand by the Congress.

Kumar is the gym owner who had shot to fame after coming in defence of a Muslim shopkeeper when activists had objected to his shop’s name in Kotdwar.

Interacting with the media here on Monday, MLA and BJP State spokesman Vinod Chamoli said that those who change from Deepak Kumar to ‘Mohammed Deepak’ are venerable for the Congress, adding that such a tendency to pretend and those who encourage it will not be acceptable in Uttarakhand. Chamoli said that such tendencies are dangerous for the State’s demography and peace. “Senior Congress leaders queue to meet Rahul Gandhi and wait for years for the opportunity while some even leave the party disappointed.

Considering this, him meeting Mohammed Deepak, hugging him and projecting it in a big way appears to be aimed at appeasement in Uttarakhand. The message is clear- one who becomes Mohammed from Deepak is a hero for them,” Chamoli said. He said that the demographic changes in Uttarakhand are already a matter of concern. The manner in which senior Congress leaders in Delhi made statements in the Kotdwar incident shows that the party is attempting to further affect the demography in the State, he added.  

“In which direction does the Congress want to take Uttarakhand? If the divinity of Uttarakhand has to be preserved, it is vital to remove the Congress fully and the public is going to do this in the coming days. The people will not tolerate the manner in which the Congress central leadership is encouraging appeasement with its regional leaders attempting to disturb the demography. With the support of the people, the BJP will never let the Congress succeed in its intentions,” the BJP MLA said.
