Several routes to remain diverted in Dehradun on Dussehra

Several routes will remain diverted in Dehradun on Thursday for the Dussehra celebrations at Parade Ground. Traffic restrictions will start from 12 noon and continue till the end of the programme.

As per the traffic plan issued by the police, the Dussehra procession will begin at 2 PM from Shri Kalika Mandir, pass through Moti Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar and Rajpur Road via Astley Hall, and reach Parade Ground by 4 PM through Kanak Chowk. Parade Ground and its surrounding area will be a zero zone for all vehicles. Vikram and Tata Magic vehicles on route number 3 will be allowed only till Tehsil Chowk, from where they can move towards CMI via Doon Chowk and MKP Chowk. Vehicles on route numbers 5 and 8 will return from the Railway Gate.

Vehicles on route number 2 will not operate from Pant Road stand and will return from Sahastradhara crossing. City bus services will also follow diversions. Buses on the Parade Ground–Cantonment–Rajpur Road route will start from Orient Chowk near the petrol pump and will not enter Kanak Chowk. Buses from Clement Town to Rajpur Road Kuthal Gate will move through Darshan Lal Chowk and Clock Tower. Buses on the Raipur Road–Maldevta–Sahastradhara route will operate from Chuna Bhatta and return from Survey Chowk.

As per the traffic plan, barriers will be placed at Buddha Chowk, Darshanlal Chowk, Doonga House, Kanak Chowk, Employment Office junction, Orient Chowk, Lansdowne Chowk, Survey Chowk, Hotel Pacific junction and Manoj Clinic Chowk. Parking for the public will be available at Rangers Ground, Mangla Devi Inter College and Kabul House.

Parking for officials and VIP vehicles will be arranged behind the Parade Ground stage at Doon Club and tin shed parking nearby. Vehicles from Saharanpur Road will move via Prince Chowk, Tehsil Chowk, Doon Chowk and Buddha Chowk. Vehicles from Chakrata Road will move through Bindal Chowk, Clock Tower and Darshanlal Chowk. Police have requested visitors to use only designated parking spaces, prefer two-wheelers and follow alternative routes. Essential service vehicles will be allowed passage during the programme, as per the officials.
