PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

The leader of opposition (LoP) in Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya has said that the State government should order a high level inquiry to investigate the service period of  Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) managing director PC Dhyani. He said that by manoeuvring the system and using corrupt practices, Dhyani who was a class III employee managed to reach the coveted post of the MD.

The LoP said through investigation of all the officers and department of personnel involved in the process of promotion of the PTCUL MD should be done. He also demanded that a special audit of all the major financial and policy decisions during the tenure of Dhyani should be conducted.

It is worth mentioning here that in a recent decision, the Uttarakhand High Court had removed Dhyani from the post of the PTCUL MD for not possessing the basic qualification needed for the post.

Arya said that the irregularities and promotions given to Dhyani proves that political patronage and collusion is prevailing over qualification, experience and rules in the power corporations. He said that big claims of making the State an ‘Energy State’ were made by the government but instead of fulfilling these promises, the Power department was made a haven of corruption. He said that the Power department is the backbone of the economy of the State and corruption in this department not only breaks the faith of the investors but also hampers the pace of the development.
