Several challenges overcome to achieve development in 25 years, says CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the silver jubilee of the State’s foundation is an occasion to honour the statehood activists, women and youth who made sacrifices for the creation of Uttarakhand. Speaking at the Devbhumi Rajat Utsav here on Friday, Dhami recalled that Uttarakhand faced multiple challenges when it was created in 2000. Looking back at the State’s journey these 25 years, one can say with pride that Uttarakhand has not only tackled these challenges to move forward but is also setting standards in development, he said.
The CM said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, various schemes are being executed for villages and cities and various segments ranging from farmers to youth, from women to labourers and from traders to employees, among other sections of society to ensure the all-round development of society. Efforts are being undertaken to develop infrastructure for providing education, health facilities, roads, drinking water and air connectivity in cities and remote mountainous areas, while work is also being done at a swift pace on initiatives like ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’ to achieve the dream of a developed nation and State. Many important schemes are also being executed to boost the local economy and tourism in the State, Dhami said. The CM further said that the State government took various tough decisions during the past four years in public interest. The anti-conversion law, strict anti-riots law, the anti-copying law and actions against various forms of Jihad were taken by the government. He also referred to the Uniform Civil Code, action taken against illegal Madarsas and Operation Kalnemi undertaken by the State government. Reiterating his commitment to the all-round development of Haridwar, he said that work is underway on constructing a sewerage network costing Rs 186 crore in the city along with drinking water schemes costing more than Rs 187 crore. The State government is also working on the Haridwar-Rishikesh corridor to develop Haridwar city on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath and Ujjain Mahakal corridors. The CM also said that the government has started preparing the Kumbh to be held in Haridwar during 2027. Haridwar mayor Kiran Jaisal, Roorkee mayor Anita Agrwal, district Panchayat head Kiran Chowdhary, Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan and others were also present on the occasion.
