The Sports University at Gaulapar here will be a historic step toward establishing Uttarakhand as one of the leading sports States in the country, according to Sports minister Rekha Arya. She said this after successful completion of the land transfer process for the university on Tuesday. Arya visited the site for the first time after the land was officially transferred from the Forest department to the university. She reviewed the ongoing leveling work for the university campus and directed officials to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe and with high-quality standards. Currently, the work to level the land and clear bushes and other obstacles is progressing rapidly.
The minister said, “To others, this may just be a piece of land, but to me as Sports minister and to the millions of athletes in the State, it is no less than a pilgrimage site. Here, the dreams of Uttarakhand’s athletes will take shape, their talents will find new direction and from this place, future national and international players will be prepared,” she said.
Arya stated that in the years to come, this location will become a centre of sporting excellence, providing a world-class platform for the State’s youth.
