Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan has issued necessary directions to the officials concerned for the preparation of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra in the State. Informing this, the secretary (Administration), Satendra Kumar Gupta, who discussed the Sansthan preparations for the Yatra, said that they are fully prepared for the annual pilgrimage. “We have stressed on water to be arranged for the pilgrims along the routes. Another task we are focused on is proper cleaning of Tank Type Stand Post (TTSP) reservoirs and other water structures in the district, particularly those installed along the Yatra routes,” he said, adding that all leakages would be repaired and regular water quality checks would be done. He further said that the water ATMs and purifiers installed along the Yatra routes would be made operational in no time.
According to Gupta, various water structures have been set up along the whole stretch of the Yatra route, including locations such as Rishikesh, Haridwar and Chamoli among others.
“Like the previous year, this year too, 206 TTSP water structures have been set up along the Yatra route though 40 are currently non-functional due to unavoidable damage. I directed the officials to monitor these TTSPs and repair them as soon as possible. Moreover, 367 pillar-type stand posts, 10 hand pumps, 57 water ATMs and 34 water purifiers have been installed along the Yatra route. Of these, 151 TTSPs and eight Water ATMs are non-functional and directions for their repair and operational status have been issued. We hope that all monitoring and repairs of the water structures will be completed by April 15, allowing them to be operational well before the Char Dham Yatra begins,” Gupta said.
He also added that the painting and maintenance of the water structures along the Yatra route have begun and directions for signage indicating the distance to water structures have been issued. Further, guidelines for maintaining water supply in 138 public toilets along the Yatra route have also been issued.
“Emergency water tankers will be made available along the route as per requirement,” Gupta added.
