Red alert- extremely heavy rain forecast in Dehradun & three other districts

The State Meteorological Centre has issued a red warning (take action) regarding the possibility of extremely heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places with heavy to very heavy rain at a few places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Haridwar districts on Monday.

An orange warning (be prepared to take action) has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all the districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky with heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur in some areas. Apart from this, few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. It is pertinent to mention here that the meteorological centre has issued red, orange and yellow warnings regarding the possibility of heavy rain in the State till September 2.

Meanwhile, heavy rain was witnessed in some parts of the State on Sunday with 92.5 millimetres in Koti and 71.4 millimetres in the Jolly Grant area of Dehradun. Light to moderate rain was reported in various areas with 62.5 millimetres in Kalsi, 46 millimetres in Nainbagh, 45 millimetres in Chakrata, 31 millimetres in Pauri, 30.3 millimetres in Dehradun, 28 millimetres in Kirtinagar, 25 millimetres in Narendranagar and 12 millimetres each in Lohaghat and Khatima.
