The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Wednesday has intensified its crackdown on illegal encroachments across the city, issuing 1,714 challans during a special drive conducted between December 2, 2025 and February 21, 2026.

The officials said that the enforcement teams had carried out inspections across multiple wards and localities, removing unauthorised constructions and reclaiming public and corporation-owned land. Ownership boards were installed at recovered sites to prevent fresh encroachments.

In Mauja Kishanpur, an illegal boundary wall, built on nearly 500 square meters of the corporation land, was demolished. In Chukkuwala, encroachment was cleared following a complaint by the ward councillor.

Joint action with the Tehsil administration in Nehrugram, Mayur Colony, led to the recovery of around 900 square meters of land. In Danda Lakhond, the boundary walls of seven houses constructed on Golden Forest land were demolished during a joint operation.

Encroachments were also removed near Manava Bharati School in Nehru Colony as well as in Mohkampur Majra Mafi, Jwalpa Enclave, Adhoiwala, Tuntowala and other areas. In Nathanpur, 54 square meters of land was marked with an ownership board while in Banjarawala, the corporation secured possession of well land.

During the campaign, Rs 8.76 lakh in the form of fines was recovered and deposited in the municipal treasury. The civic officials warned against future illegal occupation of public land, roads and drains, stating that the anti-encroachment drive will continue in the coming weeks.
