CS orders unified platform to track students’ academic & health status

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed the Education, Technical Education and Health departments to develop a unified platform for tracking and mapping all activities related to the State’s students.  He said this during a meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday with representatives from the relevant departments to discuss the student tracking and mapping initiatives under the Education department.

CS emphasised the need to create ABHA and APAAR IDs for all children. He stated that both education and health data will be monitored through these IDs. By further enhancing these platforms, a comprehensive system should be designed to ensure that records of educational achievements, as well as health milestones including vaccination, admission to Anganwadi and school enrolment, are readily available.

He stressed the importance of collecting data from the point of vaccination after birth, through Anganwadi and school admissions, until students complete their schooling. Additionally, the system should automatically send SMS notifications to parents to inform them when their child becomes eligible for vaccinations or school enrolment. This will also enable concerned departments to follow up effectively with families.

To implement this, the CS instructed the relevant departments, along with NIC and ITDA, to collaborate and brainstorm on creating the platform. He also called for another meeting to take place soon.
