The Indian Army’s 14 Infantry Division organised special programmes in Dehradun on Monday to honour ex-servicemen and Veer Naris. The events were held under the guidance of Major General Naveen Mahajan, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 14 Infantry Division.
A separate ceremony was organised for Veer Naris, which was led by the president of the Family Welfare Organisation (FWO), 14 Infantry Division Kusha Mahajan. During the programme, 25 Veer Naris were felicitated. Cultural performances were also presented and the Veer Naris were assured of full support from the Army and its welfare organisations.
The army officials shared details of the ongoing veteran outreach programmes in Dehradun. Since December 2024, around 28,000 ex-servicemen have been geo-located and “Satat Milaap” teams have personally met thousands of veterans and war widows. Out of more than 500 grievances received, 93 per cent have already been resolved, mainly related to pensions, SPARSH portal issues and ECHS facilities, the army officers said.
During the event, Major General Naveen Mahajan distributed medical assistive devices to disabled ex-servicemen to improve their quality of life. Electric wheelchairs, hearing aids and electric scooters were provided to several veterans. An electric scooter was also presented to a decorated veteran with the support of Hero MotoCorp under its CSR initiative.
The programme also focused on environmental responsibility. The GOC flagged off 10 e-rickshaws under the army’s ‘Green Station’ initiative. These e-rickshaws will provide free transport to stations for the veterans and their families while helping reduce pollution.
