Taking a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s planned visit to Uttarakhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that the Congress should reconsider the plan because Gandhi’s visits to the State have always proven beneficial for the BJP. He said that the nationalist people of Uttarakhand will not tolerate someone who regularly insults the armed forces and Sanatan. Considering this, irrespective of how big a leader it brings, the Congress will have to struggle to maintain its existence in Uttarakhand, Bhatt said.
Responding to queries of the media here on Sunday, the BJP State president opined that the Congress is a party which is completely against the armed forces and Sanatan, adding that Gandhi has contributed the most to this stance. “Congress leaders may have some unfounded expectations from his Uttarahkand visit but the people of Uttarakhand think otherwise. Everybody has seen the stance and character of the Congress party against the armed forces and Sanatan. The culturally rooted and nationalist people of Uttarakhand will never trust such a person who regularly insults the armed forces. He calls army operations ‘deals in blood’ and seeks proofs of the courage of the armed forces. Generations after generations of youth from Uttarakhand have continued to join the armed forces. They have learnt to make the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. The people of Uttarakhand will never accept such a cowardly and opportunist opposition,” Bhatt said.
He further said that Uttarakhand is also called Devbhumi, from where the message of Sanatan thoughts and culture spreads across the world. The people of such a State will never accept Gandhi and the Congress because they thrive on opposing Sanatan. “The Congress was not happy when the Ram Mandir was constructed though it was unhappy that the Babri Masjid was not constructed. The Congress’ first priority tends to be a particular community, especially the Muslims. Wherever the Congress is in power today, it is reaching the heights of appeasement with steps like religion-based reservation. The Congress leaders may think that Gandhi’s visit may improve their position in Uttarakhand. However, we rest assured as Rahul Gandhi’s arrival has always been beneficial for the BJP,” the party’s State president added.
