The memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed in April between Patanjali’s Divya Yoga Mandir Trust and the Uttarakhand Tribal Directorate to prevent migration of the tribal people of Uttarakhand and connect them with self-employment has been gaining momentum, Patanjali sources said, adding that under this project, details and complete profiles of 17,000 tribal families living across Uttarakhand are being prepared.
Divya Yoga Mandir Trust functionaries said that they are also striving to provide a market for the products churned out by 17,000 tribal families living in 64 villages of the State. “Things are going apace from training the tribal families to providing them market access,” the trust functionaries.
Additionally, over 20 from the Patanjali Research Foundation monitored the data collection. In each village, the trust’s functionaries spent approximately a week connecting these tribal families to the mainstream. Tribal families were trained through various means and after the training, they are now being provided with in-depth information on how they can become self-employed, how they can manufacture their own products, and how they can market them.
Digital solutions, provided by Patanjali’s sister organisation, Bharuwa Solutions play a key role in this initiative.
