2 youths killed, 2 injured in a road mishap

Two youths died on the spot and two others were seriously injured in a road accident near Nainital on Saturday morning. The accident occurred near Khupi on Jeolikote-Bhowali Road when a car carrying tourists from Unnao to Jageshwar Dham lost control and fell into a 300-meter-deep gorge. Four young men were traveling from Unnao to Jageshwar Dham in vehicle number UP78SJ 4936. Around 8:30 AM, as their car approached Khupi near Gethiya area, the driver suddenly lost control and the car plunged into a gorge.
On hearing the loud noise of the crash, villagers living nearby rushed in and informed the police. Soon a police team from Tallital police station, led by SI Satish Upadhyay, arrived at the scene. Subsequently, the fire brigade and SDRF teams jointly launched a rescue and relief operation.
After considerable effort, all four young men were extricated from the badly mangled vehicle According to the police, Ankit Chaudhary and Abhiraj, residents of Pitambar Nagar, Unnao, died on the spot while Atul Dubey and Shyam were seriously injured. Later, the injured were sent to Haldwani and admitted at a hospital there.
