672 distress calls received by 108 emergency ambulance service on Deepawali

The ambulances of the 108 emergency service of the State responded to 672 distress calls during the Deepawali festival this year. The data released by the ambulance service suggests that it provided help in 672 cases from October 19 to 20 (Dhanteras to Deepawali) this year. It is worth mentioning here that the emergencies related to medical, fire and accidents increase appreciably during the festival of Deepawali and the service was geared up to meet emergencies on the day.
The service responded to seven cases of burn, 86 cases of road accidents, 187 cases related to pregnancy and 365 other cases during the period of Deepawali. The personnel of the services helped in safe deliveries (births) during transit to the hospitals in the ambulances during the festival period.
With 147 cases, Dehradun district had the maximum number of emergencies during the festival of lights. Haridwar had 109 while Udham Singh Nagar had 104 cases during the festival period. In Nainital district 58 emergency calls were received by the service. In Dehradun district, three cases of burns were reported.
The state head of 108 service, Anil Sharma reviewed the services provided by the ambulance service during the Deepawali festival in a video conferencing session held in Dehradun office on Thursday. He said that the ambulance service was in a state of high alert to respond to emergencies during Deepawali. Sharma said that it is a matter of great pride that the personnel of the ambulance service worked with full commitment on the day when people celebrate the festival with their family members.
