Five new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Five new cases of dengue were reported in the Dehradun district on Friday. According to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma the cumulative number of confirmed dengue cases in the district has now reached 204. This total includes 106 cases from Dehradun itself and 98 cases from other districts and States.

Sharma informed that there are currently 18 active dengue patients receiving treatment. Out of these, 11 are being treated at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, two at Himalayan Hospital, one at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital, one at Graphic Era Hospital, two at Max Hospital and one patient is being treated at home. On Friday, health officials collected a total of 155 dengue samples, raising the cumulative number of tested samples to 11,288.

Additionally, on Friday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and health department volunteers conducted 11,430 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, they found larvae in 172 homes. To date, the health department has completed a cumulative of 11,15,302 surveys, with 6,807 showing positive findings. ASHA workers and volunteers also inspected 75,966 containers, discovering that 258 of them contained larvae as of Friday. Overall, they have examined 74,07,074 containers, with 9,182 testing positive for larvae.

It will be recalled that earlier District Surveillance Officer (DSO) Dr Pradeep Rana urged residents to follow necessary precautions, including avoiding stagnant water in their surroundings, using mosquito repellent, wearing covered clothing and consulting a doctor as soon as they observe any symptoms of dengue.
