4 killed, over 13 injured as bus plunges into gorge near Chakrata

At least four people were killed and over 13 injured after a Himachal Roadways bus plunged into a 100-metre-deep gorge near Kuanu village on Meenak Road in the Kalsi region of Dehradun district on Tuesday.
A total of 36 passengers, including the driver and conductor, were in the bus, Dehradun district disaster management officer (DDMO), Rishabh Kumar said. “The bus was on its way from Nerwa to Paonta Sahib when it met with the accident,” he added.
Local villagers swung into action as soon as they came to learn about the accident. Later, rescue teams from Dakpathar, Chakrata, Mori and Tyuni were mobilised on the directions of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi.
The chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami condoled the death and said he had directed the departments concerned to launch full-fledged rescue operation. He further said in his post on X that the injured might be airlifted if their condition so warranted.
