The foundation stone of Jyotiba Phule–Savitribai Phule Evening School has been laid in Ramnagar under the initiative of the Ramnagar Creative Teachers’ Forum. This initiative aims to offer free and quality education to over 2,000 rural children from Ramnagar.  Inaugurating the school,  the secretary of Uttarakhand Vidyalaya Shiksha Parishad (UVSP), Vinod Simalti said  that this initiative, led by government school teachers, would mark a significant advancement for children from rural backgrounds. He stressed the importance of combining education with employment-focused training to foster a brighter future for the students.

Sharing details of the likely benefits of this initiative, the convenor of the teachers’ forum, Navendu Mathpal said that more than 2,000 children residing within a 10-kilometre radius of Sanwalde and surrounding villages would benefit from this programme. “The school is set to provide guidance and training for students at the primary, secondary and higher secondary levels,” he said.

In addition to delivering lessons based on the Uttarakhand Board curriculum, the evening school would prioritise preparation for competitive exams, offer skill-based and employment-focused courses and place a strong emphasis on girls’ education and computer literacy, Mathpal informed, adding that the entire educational programme would be implemented with active community involvement.

Further, there are plans to create an Uttarakhand Literature and Culture Centre on the campus to commemorate Mathuradatt Mathpal, a distinguished Kumaoni author and Sahitya Akademi Award winner.
