The district Police have arrested the accused involved in the sensational murder case of Piran Kaliyar area of Roorkee on Wednesday. The accused Kaif alias Govinda has confessed that he killed the 12 year old son of his live-in partner and threw his body in a canal.
Addressing the media persons at Civil lines Kotwali of Roorkee, the Superintendent of Police (SP) rural Swapna Kishore Singh said that On December 17, a woman arrived at the control room and she accused her elder son of killing her younger son. However, the Police on investigation found that the woman was actually in a live-in relationship with the person whom she used to refer to as her elder son to neighbours.
The woman told the Police that on Saturday night her partner Kasif got drunk and started abusing her, due to which she left her 12 year-old son at the room and went to the Dargah. When she came back to the room in the morning, both were missing from the room. In a CCTV camera installed nearby, the accused was seen carrying a bundle of clothes. The Police were able to apprehend the accused on Wednesday. Accepting his crime he told the Police the body of the child was wrapped in a blanket by him and then put in a sack which he threw in the canal. The SP Singh said that while registering a murder case against the accused, they have started searching for the dead body of the child.
Police inquiries have revealed that the accused is a professional criminal and nine cases have been registered against him in Delhi and Meerut under various sections including murder, theft and robbery.
