In latest Uttarakhand news, from now on, the commuters travelling from Delhi to Dehradun and vice versa will have to shell out extra as the rate of the toll taxes on the toll plaza on the Delhi-Dehradun highway (NH-58) has been hiked. The new rate started to be collected from July 1. As per the information received, while the toll tax rate was increased by Rs 10 for multi-axle vehicles, the buses and trucks would have to pay Rs 5 more. This is the first time that the National Highways Authority of India has kept the hike within the range from Rs10 to Rs 5. In the last time, the toll tax rate was hiked by Rs15 to Rs 20. However, the locals travelling on this NH stretch for 10 kilometres or less pay Rs 25 by way of toll tax.

It is further learnt that about 40,000 vehicles ply on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway daily and the number increases during the week-ends. And the same happens during the pilgrimage and tourism seasons.
