30 injured after UP Roadways bus falls off highway in Haridwar

A Roadways bus of Moradabad depot, Uttar Pradesh carrying about 40 passengers fell off the highway near Har Ki Paidi in Haridwar district on Sunday evening. Over 30 passengers sustained injuries out of which, three were seriously injured, the officials said. They informed that the accident occurred at about 5:30 PM on Sunday when the bus suddenly went out of control and overturned at the entry gate of Deendayal parking and fell in front of the Mela Control building near Har Ki Paidi. The passengers and nearby people started screaming in pain and panic and the locals along with the police started rescuing the injured. More police force was also called to the spot. The police sent 31 passengers to the nearby government hospital by ambulance. The officials said that three persons sustained serious injuries and their condition was reported to be quite critical in the hospital too. The doctors also referred one seriously injured patient to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh. The remaining passengers are safe, the officials said. They also informed that the police are yet to identify all the passengers as most of them are undergoing treatment but their respective families will be informed about the accident as soon as possible. Senior police officers including the superintendents of police and circle officers reached the spot to check on the situation after the accident. The police have started investigating the cause of the accident and will question the passengers whose condition stabilises soon, they added.
