In latest news from Uttarakhand, after a youth was killed by a tractor trolley laden with mined materials in the Piran Kaliyar police station limits under Haridwar district, the angry relatives of the deceased and the villagers blocked the road while putting the body on its middle, demanding immediate arrest of the killer driver. Given the agitators’ determination to not hand over the body to police for post -mortem and withdraw the blockage, senior police officers reached the spot and tried for hours to persuade the agitators into allowing the police to take the body under its custody and the traffic movement to resume. The tractor trolley driver is still on the run till the time of writing this report.
The deceased was identified as 32-year-old Renu who was heading towards Hadipur from Shekhwala when the mishap occurred. He was killed on the spot, police said. However, two persons who were in the tractor trolley were taken into custody by police, informed the superintendent of police, Haridwar (rural) Swapan Kishore Singh, adding that the CCTV footages were being scrutinised to identify the tractor trolley driver.
