The police registered a case against local RTI activist Vikesh Negi in the Nehru Colony police station on Monday on charges of attempting to hinder and coerce public servants in the performance of their duties. The officials said that Negi had allegedly posted a threat to commit suicide on Facebook, alleging that the Uttarakhand police, police of Nehru Colony police station and other public servants were responsible for his plight in a land fraud case. They informed that a case was registered against Vikesh Negi, Vinod Kumar and Rajendra Bhatt in connection with a land fraud incident in Nehru Colony police station on July 21. Following this, the accused Negi shared a post on Facebook allegedly claiming that he was being troubled by the police and other officials of Nehru Colony police station. The officials said that by sharing such a post, Negi aimed to obstruct and exert pressure on the Uttarakhand police and other public servants while they carry out their official duties. Considering this, the police registered another case against Negi on Monday under section 224 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Nehru Colony police station for attempting to hinder and coerce public servants in the performance of their duties. The police are investigating the matter and will take further action accordingly, they added.
