The construction of the Satpuli lake in Pauri district will facilitate employment opportunities for local youth while also enabling various water sports competitions at this venue. Stating this, the Tourism, Irrigation and Public Works minister Satpal Maharaj said that a sum of Rs 56.34 crore has been approved by NABARD for this project, adding that all-round development of the Satpuli Nagar Panchayat area is taking place under the Bharatiya Janata Party government.
Maharaj was speaking at a campaign gathering held in support of the BJP candidate for the Nagar Panchayat chairperson’s post Anjana Verma and ward member candidates of the party on Sunday. He said that it is important to bring a ‘triple-engine’ government by electing the BJP in the urban local body elections to ensure more efficient development works. Referring to the development works facilitated in the area, he said that the BJP government had approved Rs 1.61 crore for construction of Satpuli Nagar Panchayat office building and Rs 76 lakh for bathrooms and beautification at Dagleshwar Mahadev Mandir. Apart from this, Rs 2.81 crore was spent on construction of a multi-storeyed shopping complex, Sulabh Shauchalay and parking in Satpuli. While a sum of Rs 25 crore was approved for a city pumping drinking water scheme, Rs 4.42 crore was approved for a 40-bed tourist rest house which is under construction in Satpuli. Further, Rs 3.52 crore was approved for a car parking which is under construction.
Addressing the locals and BJP workers, the minister said that all-round development of the State is taking place under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. “Considering the swift pace at which the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line is being constructed and the consistent rise in number of pilgrims and tourists visiting the State, the vision of PM Modi that the coming decade will belong to Uttarakhand, already appears to be coming true,” Maharaj said. He requested the public to vote for the BJP candidates to place a triple-engine government and ensure the desired level and pace of development at the local level.
