The Northern Railways has introduced an Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM) at the Rishikesh railway station to provide unreserved tickets conveniently to passengers without requiring them to stand in long queues at ticket counters. The initiative is part of the Northern Railways’ efforts to enhance passenger convenience, as per the Railway officials.
According to them, the number of ATVM machines and facilitators operating these machines has been increased at various stations under the Moradabad division to ensure smooth functioning and accessibility. The ATVM machines also support digital payment options, allowing passengers to purchase tickets seamlessly through digital transactions. Several stations have been equipped with ATVM machines to streamline the ticketing process. They said that earlier, 43 ATVM machines were operating at 21 stations with the assistance of 50 facilitators in the division.
Now, the facility has been expanded to eight additional stations, including Rishikesh. As a result, a total of 68 ATVM machines have been installed across 29 stations in the division, supported by 69 facilitators. This expansion aims to encourage more passengers to use ATVM machines and facilitators for obtaining unreserved tickets, making their journey hassle-free and more efficient, the officials said.
