Janmashtami celebrated with religious fervour

Janmashtami was celebrated with religious fervour across the State on Saturday. Temples in Dehradun were adorned with flowers, illuminations and balloons. Additionally, Bhajan Kirtan was held in many temples throughout the State. The market had witnessed a surge in visitors a week prior to the celebration, as people sought decorative items to make the Janmashtami festivities memorable.

Many devotees celebrated Janmashtami on August 15. Priest Jagmohan Dimri said that in their temple, they distributed Prasad to the devotees. Along with Bhajan and Kirtan to mark the occasion, devotees also dressed up Bal Gopal in new clothes.

Another devotee, Lalita Chaturvedi said that every year on Janmashtami, she visits the temple to offer prayers. She also distributes Prasad to the devotees who come to the temples. She followed the same tradition this year as well.

Many devotees were also observed bringing their children to the temples, dressing them up as Krishna and Radha. Localite Vimal Kumar said that to make this occasion special and memorable, he dressed his son as Lord Krishna, complete with a flute and traditional attire.
