The number of patients suffering from viral fever has surged further in Nainital. Stating this, the doctors working for the Government B D Pandey District Hospital said that the queue of viral fever patients keeps lengthening at the hospital. Notably, in the last three days, over two and a half thousand patients thronged the hospital for treatment. The doctors further said that all the beds there were currently occupied. The doctors ascribed this surge to the changing climate.
There were 748 patients in OPD on Monday, 665 on Tuesday and 632 on Wednesday. Apart from this, the Emergency ward remained crammed with patients all these three days.
Long queues of patients are being noticed outside the prescription counter, medicine counter and doctors’ rooms. As per the information received from the hospital, over 80 patients were admitted in the hospital on Wednesday alone.
The principal medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Tarun Kumar Tamta said that changing climate was principally responsible for the spike in the number of viral fever patients. “The common symptoms are sore throat, headache, cold and joint pain. Doctors are giving health advice to the patients and if their condition is found serious enough, they are also being admitted,” he added.
