Dharasu police recovered 16 lost/stolen mobiles worth about Rs two lakh and returned them to their owners, acting on the mobile phone missing complaints lodged on the Central Equipment Identification Register (CEIR) portal.
Police officials said that the CEIR portal is an effective means of tracing and recovering a missing/stolen mobile phone. To lodge a complaint on this portal, one should submit necessary documents like mobile purchase receipt, identity card and missing report. After the complaint is lodged, the police traces the phone and completes the recovery process.
