While the bird watchers and bird lovers are looking happy with the arrival of winter’s winged visitors these days at various bird watching sites stretched between winter destination Auli and Jyotirmath town area, the conservationists are happy, too, hailing it as a good omen from the standpoint of avian biodiversity.

These days, the beautiful birds like Black- Throated Laughingthrush, White Collared Blackbird, Eurasian Kestrel, Rock Bunting, Alpine Accentor, Step Eagle and White Throated Condilla are being easily sighted at the sites around the famed winter destination, Auli, to the delight of the bird watchers.

While speaking to The Pioneer, a local bird lover and nature expert, Sanjay Kunwar said that these days, during the winter bird watching session, people are   thronging different bird watching sites spread across the town during morning and evening. “A myriad of guest birds like White Capped Red Water Start, Red Vented Bulbul, Green Finch, Pink Broad Finch, Yellow Blue Billed Magpie, Grey Tree Pie and Plain Mountain Finch besides the Alpine birds like Chough, Black Throated Laughing Thrush, Saturn Nut Cracker, Whiskered Johanna, Scaly Breasted Cup Wing and Spot Winged Grosbeak are being sighted in abundance,” he added.

He lauded this abundant sighting, saying that it is something for the bird lovers to get elated over. “Now, the tourists can easily enjoy the avian diversity this area  is rich with through trekking and nature walk aside from the bird watching thrills,” he added.
