Many BJP leaders keen to join Congress in Uttarakhand: Selja

The in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Kumari Selja has claimed that a large number of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Uttarakhand are keen to join the Congress party. Interacting with the media persons at Mussoorie on Saturday, Selja who is on a five-day tour of the State said that a wave of enthusiasm is sweeping through the Congress party workers in Uttarakhand. She said that the people of the State are now fed up with the rule of BJP and they are eager to change the government. She said that many BJP leaders, both senior and junior level, are in contact with the Congress party and many of them will soon join the party.

Launching an attack on the BJP government, the Congress in-charge alleged that it has failed on all fronts. She said that the mafia is ruling the roost in the State and the BJP leaders are involved in corruption and crime against women. Selja said the BJP government has no policy on man-animal conflict, pollution control and environment protection. She said that it is unfortunate that the identity of the VIP involved in the murder of Ankita Bhandari is not disclosed. In response to a question, Selja said that the Congress Working Committee in the State will soon be constituted.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Ganesh Godiyal said that a wave of change is sweeping through the State. He said that the ruling BJP has created a false narrative about factionalism in Uttarakhand Congress but the fact is that the party is united. Godiyal added that the party leadership believes in striking a coordination between senior and seasoned leaders with the young leaders.

 Selja, Godiyal and other senior leaders of the party attended a Karyakarta Sammelan organised by former chairman of Mussoorie Municipal Council Anuj Gupta who had recently joined the Congress party. A large number of persons joined the party during the programme.
