The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh on Tuesday met the volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) who represented the State in the Republic Day Parade held in New Delhi on January 26.
Addressing the volunteers at the Lok Bhawan, the governor said that joining the NSS with a spirit of service at the national level is both a matter of pride and responsibility for the youth. He added that representing Uttarakhand on a platform of global importance like the RD parade is an achievement.
He also praised the volunteers who received the President’s award, saying that this honour is bestowed upon only a select few among millions of youth. He described it as not only a personal achievement but also a proud moment for the state of Uttarakhand.
Singh urged them to play their role as brand ambassadors in the society. He expressed confidence that the volunteers would promote the core principles of NSS service, dedication and social responsibility to society and actively contribute to nation-building. He asked the youth to remain committed to their goals and become a source of positive change in society.
Special principal secretary Amit Sinha, regional director of NSS Samardeep Saxena, State NSS officer Sunaina Rawat and others were present on the occasion.
