The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) officials stated on Monday that the board meeting will be held on April 29 with 65 proposals lined up for discussion, covering key civic, infrastructure and governance issues.
Deputy municipal commissioner Tanvir Marwah said that the proposals reflect a wide range of concerns from public safety to urban development. Among the key issues on the agenda are action against illegal factories, regulation of pubs and hookah bars and improving coordination on law and order and traffic management, Marwah said.
He added that the land-related proposals include the transfer of about 1,200 square metres near the Sahastradhara helipad to the Uttarakhand Fire and Emergency Service department for a new fire station and allocation of land in Nakraunda for a 33 KV power substation. In the engineering section, proposals include demolition and reconstruction of the old tax section building, a multi-storey commercial complex at Race Course/Company Chowk and implementation of the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Policy 2026. Monsoon preparedness, including repair of roads and drains will also be reviewed, Marwah said.
Health and sanitation proposals are focussed on strengthening waste collection through the purchase of e-rickshaws worth Rs six crore, compactors for waste transport and fogging machines for vector control. Issues related to stray cattle, expansion of the Shankarpur Gaushala and continuation of anti-rabies programmes will also be discussed.
The deputy municipal commissioner said that ward-level proposals include works related to roads, drains, streetlights, CCTV cameras, parks and other public amenities, along with concerns over encroachment and waste dumping. Financial matters such as revision of sanitation workers’ wages, contractor payments and ward development funds are also part of the agenda. The meeting is expected to take-up additional matters on the directions of mayor Saurabh Thapliyal.
