Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal said that the special route and diversion plan was very helpful in managing the weekend traffic. The Kimadi route was used for vehicles going towards Mussoorie. “The plan helped control traffic and prevented major jams inside the city,” he added.
Police said the entire route was divided into four super zones, 10 zones and 19 sectors. A total of 27 mobile police teams were also kept on patrol.
The police further said that roadside encroachments and heavy traffic pressure remained a challenge. Cranes were used to tow vehicles parked in no-parking zones. Police said that such planning will continue during future weekends and holiday periods.
