Four months after a student had allegedly ended his life by suicide, his mother filed a complaint at Selaqui police station. She alleged that her 26-year-old son, Ravindra Kumar had been driven to suicide after being trapped in a relationship. Being blackmailed and mentally harassed, he had been forced to take the extreme step, she alleged in her complaint.
Notably, Ravindra, a final-year Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science student of a private university in Dehradun, committed suicide in his rented room in Premnagar on February 8. The Selaqui police station officers said that a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint lodged by his mother.
As per the complaint, a woman identified as Roma Kumari, along with Prince Kumar and some of her family members, trapped Ravindra in a relationship by making false promises of marriage. The deceased’s mother claimed that they had recorded private conversations and videos, blackmailed him, demanded money and repeatedly harassed him. The complaint further states that the accused remained in contact with Ravindra through calls, chats and live location sharing, and that these records were found on his mobile phone.
The complainant said that police had seized Ravindra’s mobile phone after his death and later returned it along with the post-mortem report. She alleged that the phone contained chats, audio recordings, videos and call records that point to continuous mental harassment preceding his death.
