The Vigilance Establishment on Monday arrested a junior engineer (JE) in Kashipur for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The action followed a complaint by a registered contractor from Jaspur, who informed the Vigilance toll-free helpline (1064) that the JE had demanded a bribe to release payment for work related to the installation of water coolers in Jaspur Block. The complainant also alleged that a Gram Panchayat Development Officer (GPDO) had demanded Rs 12,000 for the same work.
