In an attempt to provide prompt and effective trauma care, the Uttarakhand government has decided to establish a State-level trauma registry. The registry will be integrated with all the medical institutions and will be linked to the National Trauma Registry. An order in this regard was given by chief secretary Anand Bardhan while chairing a meeting with the officers of departments concerned at his office on Thursday. The meeting was held in view of the recent order of the Supreme Court (SC) to all States to provide prompt and effective trauma care to road accident victims. The CS said that the nodal department for the trauma registry would be the Transport department. In the meeting, Bardhan emphasised that a coordinated, effective and prompt emergency response system in the State in compliance with the SC order.
He directed that all emergency helpline services be technically and operationally integrated with the unified emergency helpline 112. Bardhan also said that all necessary action should be taken within the time limit set by the SC and its publicity should be disseminated to the general public. The CS said that after the integration of all emergency helplines, emergency services like police, fire and medical facilities will be available immediately on helpline 112. He also said an automatic mechanism should be developed without any human intervention, so that the desired assistance can be made available immediately to the person calling 112 for medical help, fire or police assistance. The CS said that for the Good Samaritan Grievance Redressal Mechanism, the Director General of Health services should be designated as the nodal officer at the State level and the chief medical officer (CMO) at the district level, and monthly meetings should be held and the minutes of the meetings should be uploaded on the portal. He stressed the need to ensure 100 per cent implementation of the PM-RAHAT scheme.
Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey, additional secretary Vineet Kumar, Rohit Meena, Tripti Bhatt and joint transport Commissioner Mr. Sanat Kumar Singh along with other senior officers were present.
