The district magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, Nitin Singh Bhadoria conducted a site-inspection of the 280-bed satellite AIIMS now under -construction at a cost of Rs 351 crore in Kichha. During the inspection on Wednesday, he instructed the superintending engineer, CPWD, and others concerned to speed up the work by increasing the number of workers and equipment and complete the work of the ground floor and first floor of the AIIMS by September 10. He stressed on formulating an action plan so that OPD could be started soon.
The SE, CPWD, Utpal Tripathi assured the DM that the ground and first floors of the under-construction health facility would be completed by the stipulated timeframe. He added that work on two residential buildings has been completed and handed over and the remaining residential buildings would be completed soon. He further informed the DM that the hospital’s roads are also nearly complete, while plantation work has been completed.
He stated that 250 beds, 10 OTs, 30 ICU beds, diagnostics and labs aside from cardiology, nephrology, urology, neurology, general surgery, orthopaedics, general medicine, paediatrics, emergency and trauma centres are being constructed at AIIMS. He added that an inn and shopping complex would also be built within the hospital.
The DM directed the executive engineer, Irrigation, to construct three approach gates on the highway side of AIIMS, a side drain and an approach culvert within a month. He also instructed the AIIMS officials to purchase and install medical equipment on time and recruit medical staff.
Among others present during the inspection included the chief medical officer, KK Agarwal and sub-divisional magistrate Gaurav Pandey.
