Ashutosh Negi, who was recently expelled from the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) has joined the Uttarakhand Democratic Alliance (UDA) and has been appointed as the alliance’s convener. Negi addressed the media on Thursday announcing the alliance’s plans to bring together regional political parties, organisations and citizens across Uttarakhand.
Negi said that the alliance has been formed with the aim of providing a strong regional political alternative in the state. He called upon regional political parties, social organisations, intellectuals and the people of Uttarakhand to come together on issues concerning the state and its residents.
Negi highlighted key issues, including permanent residency, the rights of native residents, the state capital, development, employment and corruption. He also raised concerns related to water, forests, land, mining, paper leaks, bribery and mafia activities in the state.
He said that Uttarakhand has faced several unresolved public issues during the 26 years since its formation and stressed the need for a political alternative focused on the interests and rights of local residents. He added that the UDA would work towards making Uttarakhand a developed, progressive and corruption-free state.
Negi further stated that under his leadership, the alliance intends to play an important role in the formation of the next government in Uttarakhand. He appealed to regional parties, organisations and the people of the state to unite and contribute towards establishing the first government led by regional political forces in Uttarakhand.
