Covid-19 preparedness- CS Sandhu directs officials to penalise public spitting

The chief secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu took a meeting with the nodal officers of the Covid-19 on Friday and directed them to remain in active mode to deal with the probable third wave of the pandemic. He said that necessary preparation for home isolation should be made and the necessary facilities in the Panchayat Ghars and schools in the rural areas should be arranged. The CS directed the secretary health to ensure that the medicines, equipment and other requirements are available at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centre (CHC) level. He said that in terms of the availability of oxygen, the state is in better condition as compared to the time when the second wave of pandemic was at its peak. He said that every possible preparation should be made to deal with the third wave of pandemic and said that the Ayush department should indulge in works which would help in improving the immunity of the people.
He said that the awareness campaign should be launched in the electronic, print and social media about the Covid-19. The CS said that necessary preparation should be made on distribution of medical equipment and drug supply management. On a stern note the CS said that strict action should be taken against those found spitting at public places and throwing garbage. He also directed the officials to undertake a state-wide programme of spraying sanitizers.
The meeting was attended by the additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, secretaries Amit Singh Negi, R Meenakshi Sundaram, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar and others.
