Posing a united front, U’khand Congress plans three month long state-wide agitation plan

The Uttarakhand Congress would launch a three month long agitation against what it claims anti-people policies of the State government, rampant corruption, women safety and deteriorating law and order conditions in the State with a march to the Raj Bhawan on February 26.

In a show of unity, probably at the insistence of the Congress high command which had recently summoned the senior leaders of the State Congress to New Delhi, the Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal, the leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, the head of the campaign committee Pritam Singh, the chairman of election management committee Harak Singh Rawat and former chief minister Harish Rawat held meetings with the party leaders at Congress Bhawan on Thursday.

In these meetings a strategy to bring the party in election mode was discussed in detail. Later interacting with the media-persons, the PCC president Godiyal said that the ruling BJP has made power as a tool of loot, lies and oppression. He said that in the next three months, the party will organise state-wide protests and in them, the party will connect youth, women, farmers, employees and unemployed. Godiyal said that today Uttarakhand has become a laboratory of corruption and a citadel of unemployment and injustice.

The LoP in Vidhan Sabha, Arya said that the BJP government has proved to be a failure on all fronts and the Congress will raise the voice of people at every forum. He alleged that the BJP government is protecting criminals, middlemen and the corrupt. Arya added that the government has got exposed in every issue ranging from Ankita Bhandari murder case to the corruption in recruitments.

Former CM Harish Rawat said the BJP government of the State has fiddled with the identity, resources and future of the youth of the State. He said that in the next three months, every failure of the BJP government will be exposed before the people of the State. Rawat praised the state party leadership for effectively raising the issue of Anikta Bhandari murder case.

 The chairman of the campaign committee, Pritam Singh said that the party organisation is fully geared up for the three month long awareness campaign commencing from February 16 with a Gherao of Raj Bhawan.  The chairman of the election management committee, Harak Singh Rawat claimed the party is united and the State government will be cornered for its every failure.

 The co- in-charges of Uttarakhand Congress Surendra Sharma and Manoj Yadav were also present on the occasion.
